City of La Junta Council representatives are elected in odd numbered years. City Council sets policy, approves budget, determines tax rates, hires the City Manager, Municipal Judge and City Attorney.
City Council meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Monday, except if the Monday is a national holiday, then the meeting is on the following Tuesday. All meetings are at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Building, upstairs, in the Council Chambers.
Correspondence addressed to the La Junta City Council, Municipal Building, 601 Colorado, PO Box 489, La Junta, Colorado 81050, will be duplicated and forwarded.
Citizen participation is encouraged and there are many opportunities. Public hearings are held on annexation, budget, Community Development Block Grants. Anyone can address City Council during ‘Citizen Participation’ on each Council or Utilities Board agenda. To request addition to the agenda call (719) 384-5991 or email the City Clerk.
